19 Home Remedies for Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is an STD (sexually transmitted disease) and is caused by a bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Gonorrhea can infect the eyes, anus, throat, female reproductive tract, eyes, urethra, and vagina. Luckily, gonorrhea home remedies can help to treat the disease itself and the symptoms. 

How is it Spread?

Gonorrhea, like any other STD, is spread through unprotected sex. Most commonly, it is found among people who have multiple sexual partners. People often assume that using a condom will stop the spread of the STD, but that is not always the case, as condoms can tear.

The symptoms of gonorrhea differ depending on the sex of the person, but the symptoms do not tend to show for two to fourteen days after the STD is contracted. It should be noted that it is possible to still have gonorrhea without the symptoms. People who do not have the symptoms are called non-symptomatic carriers. If you are one to have frequent partners, be sure to get regular screenings. Home remedies for gonorrhea can help to treat the symptoms and speed up the healing of the STD.

Men’ symptoms include white, beige, greenish, or yellow discharge from the penis; an unrelenting sore throat; swelling, pain, and redness in the testicles or the opening of the penis; and more frequent urination.

Women’s symptoms include pain when having sex; heavier periods; fever; needing to urinate more often and pain while doing it; pain in the lower abdomen; and creamy, watery, or light green discharge coming from the vagina.

At first, gonorrhea can show itself as a yeast infection. If you have you think you have a yeast infection and have recently had intercourse, make an appointment with your doctor to make sure you do not have gonorrhea.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is great at killing bacteria so it perfecting for helping with gonorrhea. You can add a little bit to your bathwater and have a soak in it for a few minutes, you can add it to your diet. If you are a woman, then you can actually put a little bit of apple cider vinegar on a tampon and leave it in your vagina for a few minutes.


  1. Garlic

Garlic contains what is called allicin. Allicin fights off and kills different kinds of bacteria. Adding garlic to your diet will not only help to get rid of the bacteria causing gonorrhea, but it will also build your immune system up against other illness that is more common. If you are daring, you can apply a couple of crushed up cloves to the infected area. Make sure to rinse it well after.


  1. Tea Tree Oil

Women can use tea tree oil by diluting a few drops of the oil in water and letting a tampon soak up the oil and water before inserting the tampon and leaving it in for several minutes. Men can just dilute the oil and apply it to the area they need to. Tea tree oil should help with gonorrhea because it is very strong in fighting off bacteria and other infections.


  1. Rosemary

This herb is a very common seasoning in cooking. Rosemary has more than 20 antivirals and more than 40 antibacterials that all work together. To use rosemary against gonorrhea, you can either add the herb to your cooking or you can make a drink with a cup of water and a tablespoon of dried rosemary that you need to have twice a day.

  1. Echinacea Essential Oil

This is another essential oil that kills bacteria and you use it in the same sense that you use the tea tree oil. You just dilute the oil in a carrier oil (like almond), apply it to the infected area, and rinse it off after several minutes.   


  1. Goldenseal

Goldenseal is a herb that is used to fight infection, build the immunity system, and fight cancer. For gonorrhea, you want to focus on the immunity building and infection-fighting aspect. You just add it to your diet.

It should be noted that you should not use goldenseal if you are pregnant, have heart disease, are breastfeeding, have liver disease, or high blood pressure.


  1. Epsom Salts

Epsom salts are a form of pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, and something to clean the mucous membrane that gonorrhea affects. The next you are planning on taking a soak in the tub, in a cup for Epsom salts and relax for 20 minutes.


  1. Raw Honey

Raw honey is used for killing off many bacterias and viruses while also coating a sore throat and keeping inflammation down. To ease a sore throat that often comes with gonorrhea, you can add from honey to warmed honey or tea.


  1. Vitamin C

When you have a cold, orange juice is always one of the first things you go, right? That is because of the anti-inflammation and antioxidant powers that this vitamin has. When battling gonorrhea, you want just about anything that kills infection and bacteria.

To get more vitamin C in your diet, add in some veggies and fruits like citrus, spinach, and broccoli. You can also take a supplement pill.

  1. Zinc

Zinc builds up the white blood cells and antibodies in the body that kill off bacteria. This is another mineral that you can add to your diet or you can take in a supplement. To add zinc to your diet, try things like sesame seeds, dark chocolate, and oysters.


  1. Do Not Have Sex

If you know that you have gonorrhea or even only think that you might, do not have sex. Gonorrhea is very easy to spread and having sex does only risk the other person getting it but it can also cause you more pain.

If both you and your partner have gonorrhea, do not have sex. While there is not the worry of spreading, there still the fact that it can make the infection last longer and get worse.

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit that is very heavily filled with the vitamin C that was mentioned before. It has been found that mangosteen, in some people, can speed up the healing process when it is enjoyed with other ways of getting rid of gonorrhea (both medical and alternative).

Exercise gives you a higher metabolism, repairs blood flow, and helps to build up the immune system. Being active by weight lifting, jogging or running, walking, or yoga is all great ways to go about it.

This is a kind of fruit that many people use for treating gonorrhea. It is packed full of vitamin C, B12, and B1 which all help in stopping the spread of gonorrhea. You just eat the fruit, some people juice it, or some people find soup recipes that they can put the guyabano in.

  1. Stop the Fever

A fever is a symptom that most commonly appears in women but both sexes can have it. There are a couple of different ways that you can battle that fever. There are foods and herbs that you can add to your diet that can get rid of the fever as well as fight your gonorrhea.
