21 Home Remedies for Typhoid Fever

Typhoid fever, also known as Typhoid, is an infection of the intestines which is often fatal mostly caused by eating bad food and drink according to Dictionary.com.  There are a couple of ways to get the disease: by infected food and drink and contact with an infected person.  It spreads quickly once it enters your system and it attacks your organs. It appears in third world countries mostly due to water conditions of the land.

Symptoms of typhoid include but are not limited to a headache, fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, lethargy, vomiting, and hallucinations. Once diagnosed and treatment begins it takes about one month for the treatment to have a good effect on typhoid. Try the below home remedies in combination with anything your doctor prescribes.

If you do not have typhoid but are worried you may get it, get a vaccine instead. Typhoid fever is entirely preventable with the use of vaccines. After all, it is better to prevent an illness than to need to cure one.

  1. Cold Compress

A cold compress is used to help lower the fever of the person. You soak the cloth in water and then you twist it to get rid of the excess water and then lay it on the person’s forehead for a period of time.  Repeat this until the fever is brought down or change your method of lowering the fever. You can also give the person a sponge bath.

Drink a lot of fluids during the course of your day and illness.  Drink at least eight to ten glasses of bottled or purified water. You may also want to drink more of coconut water, herbal teas, juices, glucose water, and soups.  All of these help to hydrate your body and one of the symptoms of the typhoid is dehydration.  All of the above help to keep the person’s body hydrated throughout the duration of the illness.

 

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Using apple cider vinegar is a good way to reduce the fever caused by typhoid.  It can be either ingested as a drink or you can soak a cold compress in it because it is said that the heat from the fever is pulled out of your body by apple cider vinegar. Next time you have a fever check that out to see if it’s true.

 

  1. Garlic

Garlic helps as well to reduce fever and other symptoms that may be associated with typhoid.  All you need to do to use this home remedy is to add more garlic to your diet. You can eat it raw or add it to cooked meals to season it.

Basil also helps with typhoid.  It will reduce the fever and also settle the stomach as well.  Basil also helps to boost the person’s immunity against the germs inside the body. Like garlic, you can eat basil raw or add it to meals as a seasoning. Drinking basil tea can also help.

It is good to maintain good hygiene as well.  Always wash your hands before and after eating and before handling any food.  Always keep your sewage system in your house or around your house clean.

What I noticed though was that it asked you to not to eat food cooked outside of your house.  It was a very interesting the use of honey and warm water to help with hydration, immunity boost and dehydration.
